Sundays drain me

Posted on 17 September 2007 by Tim Schmoyer | Trackback link

I dunno what it is about Sundays, but they leave me totally wiped out on Mondays. Maybe it’s because Sundays keep me running around all day long. Maybe it’s the constant energy and adrenaline I maintain through Jr. High in the morning and Sr. High in the evening. Maybe it’s because I’m around a large number of people. Maybe it’s because I’m responsible for so much of what’s taking place. Maybe it’s because I don’t work out enough and need to get in better shape. Maybe it’s a combination of all those things, but regardless, I’m always plumb-tuckered-out on Mondays and seem to be lacking energy. It’s a great feeling, although I still wish I had more energy on Mondays.

I am with ya man! Wish I could get up the energy to get stuff done around the house on Mondays, I usually end up with coffee and a book!

It’s probably a little of each thing that you listed Tim. I find myself in the same boat many weeks. I have been committed to taking care of myself better over the past 9 months now and get into the gym three times a week. One of the many benefits that I have experienced by doing this is that I do have more energy on Mondays than I used to.

I’m praying for you as well as other pastors that feel the same way. May you be refreshed and have you energy renewed!

    Blessings Bro!

I’ve the same problem in that Sunday’s are crazy for me and getting crazier this year as I become a Sunday School teacher for children as well as young people. So Monday being a day of rest is vital for me… however part of that rest is getting out in the fresh air for a walk with the dog: it helps in the recovery from Super Stressful Sundays. I definitley recommend a bit of exercise!
Another thing I find hard about Sunday is that we have a youth breakfast, then I come home and have lunch with hubby, then later dinner (usually quite small), then head out to our Junior and Senior Youth Groups for the evening where we have more food (generally junk food). So Monday I try to eat a lot of fruit and veg and drink more water to recover from it.

Hope you work it out soon! Make sure you’re taking care of yourself!

I can relate as well…I have to tell you that in the fall and especially start up is really crazy. I am a youth pastor and also an assistant football coach. Life is crazy, but I make it a point to eat right, sleep right and work out like crazy. I know you mentioned it but it does incredible things to energy. Especially the eating right bit, if we can stay off of the sugar and white enriched flour oh how our lives would be different. There is something awesome about waking up refreshed.
