A new name for youth workers

Posted on 29 April 2007 by Tim Schmoyer | Trackback link

I saw this old commercial video clip at Gman’s blog and thought it was a great illustration of what youth ministry is like. So, this weekend I showed it to my volunteer team on our vision-casting retreat. After seeing it and having a few good laughs, they renamed the volunteer team to “Cat Herders.” So, Cat Herders we are! In tribute, I edited the end of the video clip a little. Here it is:

UPDATE: A couple people requested to have this video with a generic ending to use with their volunteer staff, so here ya go! Just right-click on this link and select “Save target as” (Internet Explorer) or “Save link as” (Firefox).

LOL - I bet Jr. high youth staff laugh more at this than Sr. high.

Thanks - I’ll send it to my team.

  2. Tim Says:

No problem, Steve! I probably should’ve made a more generic video clip that doesn’t include the picture of our team from last weekend at the end, huh? If anyone’s interested in this, comment here and lemme know. If there’s enough interest I’ll do it and make a high quality version available for download.

  3. Dave Moss Says:

I’d love the “more generic” clip version - but regardless - thanks for the idea.

Also, I have really appreciated your website and have used many of your ideas. Thanks so much. I hope to return the favor in the future. (I also notice that you recently moved to MN - I’m in the Twin Cities now going on 6 years - welcome!)

  4. Tim Says:

Yeah, Dave, my wife and I just moved here about 2.5 months ago. Two of my brothers live in the cities area, so we make it there about every other week or so. Thanks for the welcome!

  5. Dan Says:

That is so surreal, I wonder how they managed to pull of all those cats. : )

  6. Tim Says:

I dunno, Dan, but I bet there’s some cat-lovers out there somewhere that hate this clip. ;) Good thing I’m not a cat-lover.

  7. tom Says:

    Hey Tim,
If you get a generic version done let me know. If not could you share how you altered it. I am having a leader meeting and would love to share it. tom

  8. Tim Says:

Hey guys! I created a generic version of this video for you guys to use with your volunteers, as you requested. The download link is posted in the original post above.
