Hyper-active boys in ministry

Posted on 11 February 2006 by Tim Schmoyer | Trackback link

Here’s a little dream of mine: What would it look like if we could somehow capture all the energy and enthusiasm from a small group of hyper-active junior high boys and focus it toward some kind of ministry in the church? I’m pretty confident that group of boys has the potential to accomplish a lot more than your average adult working group. I know our culture has something against hyper-active people and we automatically drug them up so they’re more “normal,” but why? If we, as youth workers, can somehow find a way to redirect their energy, there’s no telling what they could do for God.

So what kind of ministry would be appropriate for this group of boys and how do we make them passionate for effective service to the Lord? I have a couple ideas, but I’m not sure if I’m just naive or if this could really work.

    Tim,

You are right on. This is what Jesus did.

Keep up the Kingdom work! Jesus loves the little children. They always make the best disciples.

    Cheers,

    Brian

I’m all ears if you get this “figured out”.

I’d love to hear a silver bullet. :-)
One of my co-leaders jokes about how we thinks taking our middle school boys out to go target shooting would be a great fellowship activity.

    Yikes!

An awesome idea - but I’ve got no suggestions for you!
